of the energy centres of the body (chakras)

Simply put, the Reiki therapist draws energy from the universal source of all life, light and energy. This energy is transmitted through the hands of the therapist into the body of the person who requests healing.

There are seven energy centres - chakras - in the body:

Reiki involves active participation on the part of the person who needs healing. They must request it, and they must be willing to take responsibility for their own healing. Virtually all physical ills have psychological, spiritual or emotional components. The person receiving Reiki uses the energy received to facilitate healing. There must be an exchange of energy. Dr. Usui rediscovered the laying on of hands which was practiced by Christ and Buddha. He formulated these principles of Reiki:

  1. I will not be angry.
  2. I will do my work joyfully.
  3. I will be kind to my neighbour and every living thing.
  4. I will give thanks for my many blessings.
  5. I will not worry.

Reiki is not a religion, it is a way of life.
